What Is a Map Rank in CS2 Competitive?
The skill group CS2 gives you on each map in Competitive mode, from Silver I to The Global Elite, tracked separately per map.
What is a map rank in CS2?
A map rank is the skill group you hold on one specific map in Counter-Strike 2’s Competitive mode. Every map has its own rank, from Silver I up to The Global Elite, so you can be a Legendary Eagle on Mirage and a Gold Nova on Nuke at the same time.
Competitive vs. Premier
CS2 has two ranked modes. In Competitive you pick the map you want to queue for, and each map keeps its own skill group. In Premier, teams veto maps and you earn a single CS Rating for the whole mode. The two systems do not affect each other.

Getting and changing a map rank
A new map shows no rank at first: you need a few wins on that map before its skill group appears. After that, wins push you toward the next group and losses toward the previous one, but the change is not shown game by game; the badge simply moves when the system is confident you belong elsewhere.
Example
You mostly play Inferno and Ancient. After a season of games you are Master Guardian Elite on Inferno, Gold Nova III on Ancient, and still unranked on Anubis because you have never won a match there.
Why map ranks differ so much
Knowing a map’s smokes, timings and common positions is a big part of winning on it. Players who stick to a few maps usually rank much higher on them than on maps they rarely queue.

Is my map rank the same as my CS Rating?
No. Map ranks come from Competitive mode and are tracked per map. CS Rating comes from Premier and is one number for the whole mode.
