What Is a Duelist in Marvel Rivals?
The damage role in Marvel Rivals: heroes built to deal damage and secure eliminations, with little direct help for teammates.
What is a Duelist in Marvel Rivals?
Duelist is the damage role in Marvel Rivals. Duelists are designed to deal damage and secure eliminations, and they rarely have abilities that help teammates directly. Their job is to win duels, pressure the enemy backline and turn the team’s space into kills. Examples include Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hela and Black Panther.
What a Duelist does
- Deal consistent damage: keep pressure on enemies so they have to back off or use defensive abilities.
- Pick priority targets: removing an enemy healer or a damage threat can decide the fight.
- Flank or dive: many Duelists attack from unexpected angles while the Vanguard holds the front.
- Stay alive: a Duelist who dies first gives the enemy a numbers advantage.
Different kinds of Duelist
| Style | How it plays |
|---|---|
| Hitscan / poke | Shoots from range and wears enemies down over time. |
| Dive / flank | Moves quickly to reach and eliminate vulnerable targets. |
| Brawler | Fights at close range together with the front line. |
Example
Your Vanguard is holding the enemy team at a choke point. Instead of shooting the shields in front of you, you take a side route as a Duelist, eliminate the enemy Strategist and your team wins the fight.
Measuring your impact
Damage and eliminations matter, but so do deaths and timing. Stats like KDA help, as long as you also ask whether your kills helped the team win the fight. Some Team-Up Abilities also boost Duelists with the right partner. If you want to climb faster, our Marvel Rivals rank boost can help.
