What Is an SBC in EA FC Ultimate Team?
A Squad Building Challenge: you hand in a squad that meets specific requirements and get packs or special players in return.
What does SBC mean in EA FC?
SBC stands for Squad Building Challenge. You build a squad that meets a list of requirements, such as a minimum rating, chemistry or players from certain leagues, and submit it. The players you submit are gone for good, and in exchange you receive a reward: packs, coins or a special player card.
Common SBC requirements
- Minimum squad rating, such as 84 or 86, usually the hardest and most expensive part.
- Minimum team [chemistry](term:chemistry), which forces you to link players properly.
- Card types: a number of rare golds, Team of the Week players or cards from a specific promo.
- Leagues, clubs or nations: for example, at least one player from the Bundesliga.
Types of SBC
| Type | What you get |
|---|---|
| Player SBC | A specific special card, often split into several squads |
| Upgrade SBC | A pack or player pick that turns weaker cards into a better one |
| Icon and Hero SBC | An Icon or Hero card, usually among the most expensive challenges |
| Foundation and league SBCs | One-time rewards for completing basic or themed squads |
| Repeatable SBC | Packs you can claim several times, used to turn duplicates into new chances |
Is an SBC worth it?
- Price the solution. Sites like FUTBIN or FUT.GG show the cheapest squads that complete each SBC.
- Use what you already own. Untradeable cards and duplicates make SBCs far cheaper than buying everything.
- Check the player’s value for your team, including PlayStyles, not just the overall rating.
- Watch the expiry date. Most SBCs disappear after a few days or weeks.
Example
A player SBC asks for an 84-rated squad and an 86-rated squad. You complete the first with untradeable cards from your club and buy only two high-rated fodder cards for the second, finishing the SBC for a fraction of the listed price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I sell players from SBC rewards?
Usually not. Most SBC rewards are untradeable, so they can be used in your squad or in other SBCs, but not sold on the Transfer Market.
Why do card prices rise when a big SBC comes out?
Because thousands of players need the same ratings or leagues at the same time. High-rated fodder is the first to go up.
