What Is a Victory Royale in Fortnite?
Winning a Fortnite Battle Royale match by being the last player or team still alive on the island.
What is a Victory Royale?
A Victory Royale is a win in Fortnite Battle Royale. You get it when you, or your team, are the last ones standing after every other player has been eliminated. In Duos, Trios and Squads the whole team gets the Victory Royale, even teammates who were eliminated earlier.
How you win
Every match starts with the Battle Bus dropping players onto the island. The storm closes in over time, forcing everyone into a smaller area. Eliminate opponents or outlast them, and when no other player or team remains, the Victory Royale screen appears.
It can change by mode
The rule above applies to the standard Battle Royale modes, with or without building. Limited-time modes and special events sometimes use their own win conditions, so read the mode description before you drop.
Example
In a Squads match, two of your teammates are eliminated in the final circle. You and the last teammate win the final fight. All four of you get the Victory Royale.
Why players chase it
- Season rewards: Fortnite has traditionally given a season-themed umbrella for your first Victory Royale of the season.
- Ranked progress: in ranked modes, how high you place counts toward your rank, and a win is the best result you can get.
- Stats and bragging rights: your win count is one of the most visible stats on your profile.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do eliminated teammates get the Victory Royale?

Is a Victory Royale the same in Zero Build?
Yes. Zero Build removes building, but you still win by being the last player or team alive.
