What Is ACS (Average Combat Score) in Valorant?
Valorant’s per-round performance score, built mostly from damage plus kills and assists, and used to rank players on the scoreboard.
What is ACS in Valorant?
ACS (Average Combat Score) is your combat score averaged over every round of a match. It rewards damage first, then kills, multi-kills and assists, so it measures your overall impact better than kills alone. The scoreboard is sorted by it.
What goes into ACS
Riot has never published the exact formula, but players and stat sites agree on the main ingredients:
- Damage dealt to enemies, which is the largest part of the score.
- Kills, with extra credit for several kills in the same round.
- Assists, including ones where you helped without dealing damage.
Each round produces a combat score, and ACS is simply the average across all the rounds you played.
Why ACS depends on your role
Duelists take the first fights and usually top the scoreboard. Controllers and sentinels spend more time on utility, anchoring sites or saving rounds, so a lower ACS does not automatically mean they played worse. Compare your ACS with players on the same agent role and rank.
ACS, RR and other stats
A high ACS does not translate directly into RR. Riot does consider individual performance when calculating RR, but as a small factor next to the match result, and not by reading your ACS number.
If you want a pure damage figure, look at ADR, the average damage per round. ACS adds kills and assists on top of that.
How to raise your ACS
- Trade your teammates. Kills right after an entry fight are where a lot of combat score comes from.
- Use damaging utility on time so it hits enemies holding angles or planting.
- Stay alive in won rounds. Dying early cuts the damage you can deal later.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good ACS in Valorant?
It depends on your rank and role. Compare yourself with players of the same rank on the same kind of agent, and look at your trend over many matches instead of one game.
Does ACS count damage from abilities?
Yes. Damage counts whether it comes from guns or from damaging abilities.
