What Is Rank Rating (RR) in Valorant?
The 0–100 points that move you through Valorant’s competitive divisions, based mainly on wins, round margin and your MMR.
What is RR in Valorant?
RR (Rank Rating) is the number of points you hold in your current Valorant rank. Each division is a 0–100 RR bar: reach 100 and you rank up, drop below 0 and you rank down. How much RR a match gives or takes depends mostly on whether you won, by how many rounds, and how your hidden MMR compares to your rank.
The four things that move your RR
- Match outcome. The biggest factor by far. A win always gives RR and a loss never does.
- Round differential. One-sided games count more than close ones: a 13–2 win pays more than a 13–9 win, and a heavy loss costs more than a narrow one.
- Individual performance. Damage, assists and other contributions can add a little to a win or soften a loss. Kills are not the only thing that counts.
- Rank convergence. If your hidden MMR is above your rank, you gain more and lose less until the two meet; if it is below, the opposite.
Example
Two Gold 2 players win the same match 13–4. The one whose MMR sits well above Gold gets a noticeably bigger RR gain than the one whose MMR already matches the rank.
Promotions and demotions
From Iron to Ascendant, every rank has three divisions, each one a 0–100 RR bar. Crossing 100 RR promotes you, and a big enough win can even skip a division in what Riot calls a double promotion. Losing below 0 RR demotes you.
RR in Immortal and Radiant
At the top, divisions stop working like a bar. RR keeps adding up, and individual performance no longer matters: in Immortal and Radiant, RR depends entirely on the match result.
Radiant needs two things at once: an RR total above your region’s threshold and a place among the top 500 players in that region. A player above the threshold but outside the top 500 stays in Immortal 3.
RR vs. MMR
RR is visible and tied to your rank. MMR is hidden and represents your actual skill. Over time, the RR system pushes your rank toward your MMR, which is why winning consistently matters more than any single game.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you gain RR from a loss in Valorant?
No. Individual performance can reduce how much you lose, but a loss never gives RR.
Does ACS affect RR?
Indirectly. Individual performance is one of the four factors, but it has a small effect next to the match result, and none at all in Immortal and Radiant.
How many RR do you need for Radiant?
It depends on your region and changes over time. You need to pass your region’s RR threshold and also be in its top 500 players.
