How Do Ranked Points (RP) Work in Apex Legends?
The points that move you through Apex Legends Ranked, earned from kills, placement and bonuses after paying an entry cost.
What are RP in Apex Legends?
Ranked Points (RP) are what you earn and lose in Apex Legends Ranked. Every match costs RP to enter, and you earn RP back from kills, placement and skill bonuses. Enough RP takes you through the divisions from Rookie up to Master, and the top Master players on each platform become Apex Predators.
Ranks and divisions
The ranks are Rookie, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Master. Each rank below Master has four divisions, from IV to I, and you need more RP per division as you climb. Apex Predator is not a separate RP threshold: it is the top 750 Master players on each platform.
How a match changes your RP
- Entry cost. RP is deducted when the match starts; the cost grows with your rank.
- Kills and assists. Each one adds RP, and they are worth more the higher your team places.
- Placement. Finishing high, especially in the top few squads, adds a placement reward.
- Bonuses. Beating higher-ranked players and strong streaks of good finishes can add extra RP.
The result is that surviving matters as much as fighting: kills early in a match pay little if your squad is eliminated soon after.
Example
Two Platinum squads each get the same number of kills. One goes out in the middle of the match and barely covers its entry cost; the other reaches the final circles, so the same kills are worth more and it gains a solid amount of RP.
Starting rank, splits and resets
Your starting rank comes from a hidden skill value. Each season is split in two, and ranks are partially reset at the start and around the middle of the season. Season rewards are based on the highest rank you reach in either split.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why did I lose RP even though I got kills?
Your RP gain has to cover the entry cost first. Kills are worth less when your squad places low, so an early elimination can still end in a loss of RP.
How do you become an Apex Predator?
Reach Master and climb into the top 750 Master players on your platform. Predator is a leaderboard position, so you can drop out if others pass you.
